Discovering Frosolone, a village with an ancient charm

The village of Frosolone has ancient origins dating back to the Samnite era.
In fact, even today there are archaeological sites in Civitelle where it is possible to admire the Cyclopean Walls, belonging to ancient fortified villages of the Samnite people.
Conquered several times during the Lombard era and destroyed by two great earthquakes in 1456 and 1805, today Frosolone, nestled on a promontory 900m above sea level, is a true jewel among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy", holder of the "Orange Flag" of the Italian Touring Club.
This recognition is thanks to the traditions passed down through the centuries, such as steelworking (knives, folding knives, sliding knives, mozzettas, priming knives, scissors, paper knives, and agricultural tools) and cheesemaking (scamorza, caciocavallo, and ricotta).
The link between history and everyday life is the thousand-year-old journey of the Transhumance, recognized in 2019 as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, which has allowed Frosolone to become a great showcase to the world.
